Second to last week of internship! Say what?!

I can’t believe my internship is almost over! What in the world?! This past week was great! We did a lot of cleaning in the store for the most part. We have also been doing a lot of researching of new brands and products to carry, as well! As you may know, this takes a lot of time. It has also taught me how to sort of “hone in” on our customers and what they like and what will sell in the store; whether that have determinants of price, colors, styles, fit, etc. I have learned a lot about our Cookeville shoppers!! We also been doing a major overhaul on Instagram! We are now posting more quotes and outfis daily, mostly 3-4 times a day. Below are some pictures!

Week 8 of Internship

This week may or may not have been one of the busiest weeks of my internship (in a merchandising/store display sense)! I did a lot of rearranging in the store and I am very happy with it! This week I learned a lot about store displays and flow of traffic. I also learned that window displays are SOOO EXPENSIVE! We did our first major store display and I must say… It is awesome!

Brace yourself- I did a lot so there’s a lot of pictures!

photo 2-4ย The picture above are some new dresses we got in that I displayed in the center of the store! Super cute and summery!

This is a display I did of the new Diana Warner pieces we got in! I love the mixture of circle and rectangular- they were meant to be displayed together!

This is a display of some more Diana Warner (bottom) and 31 Bits pieces (top). 31 Bits is one of our give back brands that is uses fashion and design to empower and educate women in northern Uganda!

This is my display of our Lovely Bird hats and Frye bags! Clearly, I’m getting excited for fall!

Holy Pink Pewter headband shipment! We got a ton of these in, and they are going fast! People can’t get enough of this blinged our hair accessories!

The next couple pictures are of our window display! We worked so hard on it! Kate, the manager, did the ladder display with the shoes and I did everything else! (I’m proud, okay?!)

The glare is so bad in some of these! But I hung frames with lace behind certain parts where I overlapped them and displayed earrings! I also hung necklaces from the frames!

This probably in all took almost 7-8 hours! Between running the errands to get the things we needed, displaying them, trial and error, it very well could have ended up being 8 hours! It was so worth it and so much fun!

Thanks for reading and I hope you enjoyed it!

“A dream doesn’t become reality through magic; it takes sweat, determination, and hard work.”ย

Colin Powell

And that is just what I did this past week. I have worked my fingers to the bone. However, I have had so much fun at my internship! Having been an employee at Bless for the past 6 months, I come into my internship with an advantage; basic knowledge of the store & checking people out, merchandising, and knowing how the owner wants her merchandise displayed. This past week I have done so much I can’t even remember it all! The things I spent most of my time on were:

  • Changing the window displays with a new theme. My theme was something easy to throw on for memorial day celebrations, or even clothes perfect for the beach! I used mostly pale blues and pinks with neutrals, and since we are having a 50% off sale on our Fyre leather bags, I wanted to display those, too!

(Sorry for the glare on the window!)

I actually had two (or three, I can’t remember) of these purses I displayed sell within 2 days! (I’m proud)

  • ย I did some usual store tasks like organizing racks by color, straightening up folded pieces, and maintaining overall cleanliness of the entire store.
  • We got some new clothes in, so I had to print out the labels, tag the clothing, and fold & display them.
  • We had a REALLY cute new jewelry line come in also, so I had to price and merchandise them, as well. They are all long necklaces, consisting of beads (so popular right now) and really neat pendants (some look like compasses)- so cute!

Here they are below. There was actually a third necklace on the caged riser, but a woman bought it not even an hour after I put them out!

  • I had lots of fun doing this next part! I love art and drawing, and I got to do our chalkboard design for next week! Our city is hosting the annual “Hog Rally” (yes, it is as redneck as it sounds but they are such super nice people) where thousands of people ride their motorcycles and do all sorts of activities around the town. They are also lovers of nice and expensive things, so it gives us a chance to promote our store and products to them!

In addition to everything listed above, I went in on our off day and organized and cleaned everything up! Our store manager/owner is about to have a baby so it has been hectic around the Bless family, and the store was in need of some cleaning! Yesterday, I changed some furniture around to a more customer-friendly layout and organized our back stock room. Today, I merchandised some new Hobo bags we got in (super cute slings in bright colors), and I will post some pictures of those later- I forgot to get pictures today!

I hope you all have enjoyed reading about my internship adventures and hope it inspires you to do an internship! It is such a great experience, and I’m so looking forward to learning more about the behind-the-scenes in a boutique!

What a Steal- Nicole Miller!

What a Steal- Nicole Miller!
Um.. HELLO! This dress is amazing.. Geometric cuts and lines, neutral colors that you can play up with accessories, and not to mention the outrageously phenomenal sale price of $96! Yes, I just said $96 dollars. No lie, you don’t have to pinch yourself.
If you’re looking for a fun, functional, and attention-grabbing dress, this is it. As a sundress, just add wedges, simple jewelry, and a relaxed hair-do. As an evening dress, add some of your favorite stilettos, chunky jewelry, and nice handbag.
As far as handbags and accessories go, you can pretty much do whatever you like color wise. I love the soft slate blue as well as the bright yellow to accent and add a little pop of color to your ensemble.
Grab this while it lasts at http://www.nicolemiller.com!
